A private-fee practice. Every fee written in advance.
Dr Coory's practice is a private-fee practice. Our reception team provides a written estimate of all consultation and surgical fees before you attend, with no surprises later.
Why we are a private-fee practice.
Dr Coory's practice exists to deliver a particular kind of care: every patient personally seen and personally operated on by Dr Coory, with unhurried consultations, structured combined-clinic triage, and direct surgeon-to-physiotherapist communication. That model is only possible when the clinic is not run at volume, and the fee structure reflects that.

Consultation fees.
Initial and review consultation fees are set privately. Our reception team provides a written quote when you book, including any rebate that may be available through Medicare with a current GP referral or, where applicable, your private health fund.
- Initial consultation — private fee; written estimate at booking.
- Review consultation — private fee; written estimate at booking.
- Telehealth — private fee; available for follow-up and selected interstate/regional consultations.
- Workers' compensation, CTP, DVA — billed direct to the insurer with prior approval.
WorkCover & RTW QLD patients.
Work-related injury patients with a confirmed claim are triaged as a priority pathway — typically seen within one week of referral. Once your claim and prior approval are in place, our care coordinator bills WorkCover directly. There is no out-of-pocket cost to you for approved consultations and procedures. Case-manager reports are sent within 48 hours of each milestone. See the WorkCover & RTW QLD pathway →
Surgical fees.
Surgery in the private system involves several separate fees, each disclosed in writing to you before any operation is booked.
- Surgeon's fee — Dr Coory's fee for the operation, plus the assistant surgeon's fee where required.
- Anaesthetist's fee — set by the anaesthetist; written quote provided.
- Hospital fee — set by the hospital. With appropriate private health cover, most patients pay only the agreed excess.
- Prosthesis cost — for joint replacement and certain implants; usually covered in full by private health funds at the appropriate tier.
You will receive a complete written informed-financial-consent document covering each of these costs before any operation is booked.
Private health insurance.
Most shoulder procedures require silver-tier or above hospital cover. Joint replacement and shoulder reconstruction are commonly classified as silver-plus or gold-only by insurers. Reception will assist you in confirming your coverage with your fund prior to surgery.
Self-funded patients.
Patients without private health insurance can choose to self-fund their consultation and procedure. Reception will provide an itemised quote covering all anticipated costs.
Public hospital pathway.
Dr Coory does not currently consult in the public system. Patients who would prefer or need a public pathway can be referred to a public orthopaedic service through their GP.
Concession holders.
The practice does not bulk-bill. Pensioners and concession-card holders may be eligible for a discounted gap on request — please discuss with reception when you book.
