May 2026 · Practice update

Welcome to drjoecoory.com.au.

A short note from Dr Joe Coory on why we've built a standalone home for the practice, and what it means for patients and referrers.

For the last several years my shoulder practice has lived inside the Sunshine Coast Orthopaedic Group website — alongside my partners' practices, under the SCOG brand. SCOG remains the centre of how we deliver care on the Sunshine Coast, and I will continue to operate as Director of the group.

This standalone site exists to do something different: to act as a single, deep, surgeon-written reference for everything I do.

What you'll find here.

  • Plain-language, surgeon-written guides to the conditions I treat — from rotator cuff tears to shoulder arthritis, frozen shoulder, instability, tennis elbow and carpal tunnel.
  • Detailed procedure pages with recovery timelines, complications, and what to expect — including a dedicated page on the Mako robotic-assisted total shoulder replacement, which I was the first surgeon on the Sunshine Coast to perform in August 2025.1
  • A clear explanation of how the practice works — in particular, our combined-clinic model with subspecialty-trained nurse practitioners, and my commitment that every patient is personally seen and personally operated on by me.
  • Information for GPs and physiotherapists, including referral pathways and procedure-specific rehabilitation protocols.
  • This Insights section, where substantial LinkedIn posts will be mirrored and where I will publish technique notes, research updates and the occasional long-read.

What this is not.

This site is not a replacement for the Sunshine Coast Orthopaedic Group website. SCOG remains my practice home and the place to learn about the wider team. Nor is this site a substitute for a consultation — the content here is general information, not personalised medical advice.

How to reach the rooms.

The fastest way to be seen is to ask your GP to send a referral to referrals@scorthogroup.com.au, fax 07 5301 8154, or HealthLink. The reception team will be in touch within one business day to arrange your appointment.

I'll see you in clinic.

— Joe
